A WORD FROM THE CHAIR
Houston Young Professionals,
It is hard to believe it's already 2012! I am honored to serve as your HYPE Chair this year and look forward to working with each of you to fulfill HYPEs mission. HYPE started just two years ago this April and it is astounding to see how much it has grown. It's amazing what YPs can accomplish when we put our head's together! I take this position with great pride and know that I have big shoes to fill. Will McMullen, Founding Chairman of HYPE, helped coordinate the start up of the program which now serves almost 2,000 Members. He remains on the leadership team to provide guidance and continue the mission of HYPE.
What does 2012 have in store?
2012 is going to be a big year for HYPE, Houston, and this country. We hear the questions "How do I get involved?" and "Where do I fit in?" often from our Members. This year we will focus even more on how to utilize the talent that is provided to us daily from some of Houston's brightest and most energetic young professionals. In 2011, we listening to requests from young professionals all over the city and have restructured our sub-committees to better fit your needs. The 2012 Sub-committees will include: Community Outreach, Events, Marketing, and Program Development. Participating in one of the sub-committees will allow you to take a key role in building this program to serve future generations of young professionals.
Our hopes are that our Members - from all different industries, backgrounds, and organizational levels -will find a place to get plugged in. And if you can't find it, let me know! We are continually looking to improve our program – your program – to serve the greater population of Houston's young professional community.
Through the efforts of the events sub-committee, we plan to bring you more great events that highlight the access of HYPE to some of Houston's most powerful business leaders through the Greater Houston Partnership. I look forward to working alongside our Vice Chair, Ryan McCauley, as well as our 12-person leadership team to make 2012 a great year for HYPE.
